Should we have some way of showing our "real" level ingame?
Most people will know that being level 20 isn't a real reflection on what level we truly are. If you were to calculate it using experience amounts, its likely a lot of players would be lvl 100+ by now.
Now level means nothing and experience means nothing. I realise and accept this game is about skill primarily and your knowledge of the game. I'm not trying to detract from that or change that in anyway and I apologise if you feel this would.
But would it be so bad is an option existed or some way existed to display our "realistic level" ingame (realistic level being my own term.. if you disagree with that term, please tell me)?
Whether it be as a title, or maybe have the choice to display an icon above your head with a number inside. What ever method is used doesnt really matter as long as it looked nice.
But i've always been curious what other "realistic levels" other playes actually are, and what I am compared to them. Its not a vanity thing personally, or wanting to be better then anyone.
Its curiousity and it doesnt seem a hard thing to impliment. It would just be a caculation made by the game and generating a number based on your experience.

We already have a system similar to this in the form of titles (most especially ones associated with PvE skills), but in terms of what you mean I don't really see a whole lot against it. It's no different than wearing your R6 KoaBD title.

it'll just create even more reason for pugs not to accept an experienced player with "low level 20" over a farmer/grinder with level 1000. but don't worry GW2 will have no cap on levels.
I personally hate grind and have 0 maxed titles over 2k hours of play but seems like people enjoy grind titles.

I don't see anything wrong with the idea to be fair. It's a bit like titles: most of them don't really mean anything, but it's a little show of accomplishment, whether others feel it's so or not.
It would be nice for people who have accumulated a lot of experience points over time, or through large amounts of soloing on one character, to have some way of presenting it. After all, we still get the exp points even after we reach lvl 20. They just stack up, with no real reason, other than to add skill points, which I'm sure most people aren't lacking in if they have a lot of xp.
I personally have too many characters I play as to have a single one with a large or impressive amount of experience points, but I do see the interest in having some way of showing off the hours you've spent on one character.

Regardless of whether there's a good reason to do so or not, noobs are still going to discrimate and use it to boost E-peen.

what would be the cap on that? i do believe im up to about 13 mil on some of my chars... and yes the majority of that is farming
/notsigned for this.. would just bring more of the rank snubbing that happens in pvp into pve

i think its a pretty good idea, though it will certainly increase player elitism.
"ZOMFG NUB YOURE ONLY 2M EXP IM 900M ROFFLE". [/asshole]
maybe some small thing like a title or an emote for experience gained.

the only problem i could see from this is what some others have already stated above. If someone is "lvl100" in terms of experience while another player is only "lvl50" pugs might be more inclined to take the player with a lvl of 100even though the lvl 50 player might actually have more skill.
That being said i think its decent idea and it would be nice to be able to show the dedication you've put into a character

You are forgetting there are PvP only char and they don't start gaining XP as they are lvl 20 to start.

Hmm a title that includes:- Experience
- PlayTime on character
- Total Play time on account
- Titles
- Amount of quests done
- Pvp Faction Amount
Those then convert in to 1 title? Or lvl, or something else. That be nice yeah.
Would be interesting. Could be real lvl of account, and real lvl of char.

I think it would be pretty cool. I don't think it needs to be a title or anything like that at all. It would be nice just to know.

Locker room measuring?
Jeez, get some self confidence.
(Also, this is quite bad idea for myriads of reasons. No point in such lame e-peen thing)

There are a few flaws I see with this argument:- Good players don't PUG
- classes like Eles, Monks, and Warriors that were easily solo farmed with during the early stages of the game will almost always have more exp, as opposed to mesmers, who, until recently, had very few PvE options.
- Good players don't PUG

people will grind like crazy to show they are uber leet cool dudes
i think it can only do negative damage to the game
something similar was done in Asheron's Call except in Asheron's Call you could still raise your stats each level whereas Guild Wars there's a limit
For sure you'll see people showing off i'm level so and so and just a massive grind
i don't like it...
